LEGO has announced its largest The Lord of the Rings set to date with the release of Minas Tirith, launching on June 1 as part of its premium adult collector range.

The set recreates the iconic white-walled city of Minas Tirith, built into Mount Mindolluin and featured prominently in The Return of the King.

The location serves as the centrepiece of the Battle of the Pelennor Fields and Gondor’s final stand against Sauron’s forces in JRR Tolkien’s story and Peter Jackson’s film adaptation.

The new LEGO set contains 8,278 pieces, making it the biggest LEGO The Lord of the Rings set ever released. It will retail at $649.99 USD and is classified as an 18+ set aimed at adult collectors.

The set includes multiple minifigures, featuring Aragorn, Arwen, Faramir, Peregrin Took (Pippin), Denethor, four Gondorian soldiers and Gandalf the White, who also comes with his horse, Shadowfax.

The design aims to reflect the cinematic look of the original film trilogy while remaining faithful to the source material.

LEGO Insiders will gain early access to the set on June 1, with general availability beginning on June 4 for non-members.

Reports also indicate that customers purchasing the set between June 1 and June 7 will receive a bonus Mordor Grond battering ram set, while supplies last.

At 8,278 pieces, Minas Tirith is not only the largest LEGO The Lord of the Rings set but also ranks among the biggest LEGO sets ever produced.

It surpasses the LEGO Millennium Falcon, though it remains smaller than the Star Wars Death Star set, which exceeds 9,000 pieces.

The release comes amid continued interest in large-scale LEGO collector sets, with speculation that future adaptations, including upcoming film projects in the franchise, could inspire additional Lord of the Rings releases.
