Late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and John Oliver are shedding light on the private group chat reaction after Melania Trump publicly slammed Jimmy Kimmel over one of his controversial jokes.

During a reunion appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the comedians recalled the message Jimmy Kimmel sent after Melania Trump criticised him for comments she described as “hateful and violent rhetoric.”

According to John Oliver, Kimmel texted the group simply: “Oh boy,” alongside a photo of a visibly upset Melania Trump.

Jimmy Fallon jokingly added that he agreed with Melania’s criticism, while the rest of the group laughed about the escalating feud.

The controversy began after Kimmel made a joke during an April episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in which he described Melania Trump as having “the glow of an expectant widow,” a comment that sparked backlash from both Melania and Donald Trump.

Melania later called on ABC to “take a stand” against Kimmel, while Donald Trump publicly demanded the comedian be fired.

The discussion took place during a special reunion featuring Kimmel, Fallon, Oliver, Seth Meyers, and Stephen Colbert, reviving their popular “Strike Force Five” dynamic from the 2023 writers strike.

Kimmel admitted during the conversation that public backlash can sometimes feel isolating, adding that fellow late-night hosts are often the first people to check in when controversies erupt.
