Supermodel Anok Yai has publicly denied rumours linking her to an alleged wardrobe accident at the 2024 Met Gala after a report sparked widespread online speculation.

According to a recent article published by The Washington Post, stylist Mickey Freeman described an unnamed model who reportedly experienced a fashion emergency while attending the 2024 Met Gala. The anecdote involved a model wearing a sheer couture jumpsuit who had allegedly been sewn into the outfit after a zipper malfunction.

The publication later suggested that Yai’s 2024 Met Gala outfit appeared to match the stylist’s description, leading to speculation across social media. However, the model quickly denied the claims in a statement shared on Instagram.

“I usually stay quiet and keep to myself,” Yai wrote. “But how dare you misalign my character and imply that I ripped my outfit and peed on myself during the Met Gala of 2024! Fact check next time! Are you crazy?!”

Freeman also responded publicly, clarifying that Yai was not the individual referenced in the original story.

Yai attended the 2026 Met Gala wearing a custom Balenciaga gown inspired by Sicilian weeping statues as part of the event’s “Fashion Is Art” theme. The model remains one of the fashion industry’s most recognisable runway stars and previously made history as the first Black model to open a Prada runway show since Naomi Campbell in 1997.

The controversy has reignited discussion online about celebrity privacy, fashion reporting, and viral rumours surrounding major red carpet events.
