'RJ Decker' renewed for season 2 at ABC after strong debut performance
ABC renews RJ Decker for season 2 after strong ratings and 15 million viewers across multiple platforms worldwide

ABC has officially renewed the crime drama RJ Decker for a second season, following strong multiplatform viewership performance, according to Variety.
The renewal comes as ABC confirms the continuation of its entire 2026–2027 primetime scripted lineup, including major returning series such as 9-1-1, The Rookie, Grey’s Anatomy, High Potential, Will Trent, Abbott Elementary, Scrubs, and Shifting Gears.
RJ Decker, which premiered in March 2026, is inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s novel Double Whammy. The series stars Scott Speedman in the lead role as R.J. Decker, a former newspaper photographer and ex-con who reinvents himself as a private investigator in South Florida’s crime-heavy landscape.
According to Nielsen data, the show’s premiere has reached 15.2 million total viewers across 35 days of multiplatform viewing, a key factor in securing its renewal.
The series follows Decker as he takes on unusual and often bizarre investigative cases with help from his inner circle, including his journalist ex, a police detective, and a mysterious figure from his past who may either assist him or lead him back into legal trouble.
The cast also includes Jaina Lee Ortiz, Bevin Bru, Kevin Rankin, and Adelaide Clemens.
Rob Doherty serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. The series is also executive produced by Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, Carl Hiaasen, and Jason Tracey, with Speedman serving as producer. RJ Decker is produced by 20th Television.
With its renewal, ABC continues to strengthen its slate of drama programming heading into the next broadcast season.
