KU teachers threaten complete shutdown
Cite unpaid dues, alleged harassment, financial mismanagement

The Karachi University Teachers' Society has escalated its protest movement, deciding to continue its ongoing examination boycott and warning of a potential complete shutdown of the university amid what it describes as a deepening financial and administrative crisis.
Attendees of the general body meeting voiced serious concern over the administration's alleged failure to resolve long-pending issues, including unpaid dues, legitimate faculty demands, and the worsening financial situation of the institution.
Teachers said the university was now facing severe financial instability, administrative uncertainty, and mismanagement, all of which were directly impacting academic and examination activities.
The meeting strongly condemned what participants described as pressure tactics and harassment by the registrar's office and certain administrative officials across departments.
The association's president informed the meeting that teachers, officers, and employees were united on a common platform and would continue collective efforts to address the crisis.
It was unanimously resolved to maintain the boycott of examinations, citing lack of progress on demands. A press conference will be held next week, while a detailed white paper outlining the university's financial and administrative issues will also be released.
