Media Town residents alarmed at rising street crime
Thieves steal solar light poles installed within the society

The journalist community has expressed concern over rising incidents of theft and robbery in Media Town, Hawks Bay, after thieves removed solar light poles installed within the society.
According to journalists, the solar lighting system was installed on the directives of the Sindh's former chief minister to improve security and illumination in the area, but its theft reflected administrative negligence.
Residents said the absence of streetlights at night has provided criminal elements an opportunity to operate freely, leading to a rise in robberies and thefts.
They demanded enhanced security measures and increased police patrolling.
Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili, Secretary Aslam Khan, and the managing committee expressed deep concern, calling the situation alarming.
They said even journalists' housing society is not safe, adding that theft of solar installations highlighted failure of security arrangements.
They urged the authorities to arrest those involved and ensure foolproof security in Media Town on a permanent basis.
They also called on the Sindh home minister and senior police officials to take immediate notice of the situation.
SSP Keamari Sanghar Malik said police are extending full cooperation to the journalist community.
He added that a team had been formed to arrest the culprits and police presence in the area was being ensured. The locality is still under development but effective policing will continue, he assured.
