MrBeast has landed in a major legal dispute tied to his Amazon Prime reality series Beast Games, but the case is over a production contract rather than any criminal allegation.

His production company, MRB2024, has filed a $5 million lawsuit against Toronto-based Media Headquarters Film and Television Inc. in Ontario Superior Court. The company was reportedly hired in 2024 to help produce the first season of Beast Games, a large-scale competition series involving more than 1,000 contestants.

According to the lawsuit, MrBeast’s company paid MHQ $5 million in advance so the production house could begin planning and production work. But shortly after the agreement was made, MrBeast’s team allegedly decided to move production from Ontario to Atlanta, creating complications that disrupted the original deal.

The lawsuit claims MrBeast’s team later considered returning production to Canada, but by that point MHQ allegedly refused to continue the partnership. As a result, MRB2024 says it had to find another Canadian production partner to move forward with the series.

MrBeast’s side argues that because the original deal fell apart before all contracted services were completed, MHQ should return the $5 million advance.

MHQ, however, has denied those allegations and filed a counterclaim of its own.

The Toronto company says it had already started groundwork on the series, hired staff, and committed significant resources before the project changed direction. MHQ argues it should be allowed to keep the $5 million and is also seeking an additional $10 million in damages, claiming the abrupt changes harmed its finances and reputation.

At the centre of the court battle is one key question: did MHQ complete enough work to justify keeping the $5 million, or should the money be paid back?

For MrBeast, whose growing empire now stretches far beyond YouTube into large-scale entertainment ventures, the outcome could become one of the biggest business tests of his career.
