Meghan Markle candle collection receives alleged royal criticism over children’s names used
Meghan Markle faces backlash over candles inspired by her children and reported use of their royal titles

Meghan Markle has faced criticism following the launch of a candle collection reportedly inspired by her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as part of a Mother’s Day range. The products form part of her As Ever brand and were released on Wednesday.
According to reports, two candles named No. 506 and No. 604 are linked to her children’s birthdays. The launch has prompted reaction from royal sources, with one describing the move as “an outrageous use of their titles.”
The same source claimed that Queen Elizabeth II would not have approved, referencing her reported stance against the commercial use of royal titles following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepping back from senior roles in 2020.
However, individuals close to Meghan Markle have defended the collection. One insider stated, “The candles are specifically part of a Mother’s Day line that weaves in something special in honor of your kids … Meghan is a mom, and her brand is about hosting and entertaining and family.” They added, “She’s not parading the children around at events. She never shows their faces.”
Reports have also noted that trademarks have been secured for the children’s names, as well as associated digital assets such as email addresses and social media handles.
Meghan Markle has previously included her children in promotional material for her brand, often showing them in domestic settings while keeping their identities concealed.
