Glen Powell to voice Fox McCloud in 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie'
Fox McCloud’s inclusion marks a significant surprise, as he has traditionally remained separate from Mario’s world

Hollywood actor Glen Powell has joined the growing voice cast of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, officially signing on to portray the beloved Star Fox character Fox McCloud in the upcoming animated sequel.
The casting was announced Friday, with Powell revealing the news via his social media accounts. He will bring to life the iconic fox pilot from Nintendo’s Star Fox franchise in the Universal Pictures and Illumination production, set to hit theaters on April 1, 2026.
Fox McCloud’s inclusion marks a significant surprise for fans, as the character has traditionally remained separate from Mario’s world. His appearance in the film also fuels speculation that Nintendo may be steering toward broader crossover storytelling across its properties, including potential ties to the Super Smash Bros. universe, where Fox has long been a staple.
Powell, known for roles in films such as Top Gun: Maverick and How to Make a Killing, joins an already star‑studded ensemble. Returning cast members include Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor‑Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, and Charlie Day as Luigi, with new additions like Donald Glover as Yoshi and Brie Larson as Rosalina also confirmed.
Fans took to social media in droves after the announcement, praising Powell’s casting and expressing excitement at seeing Fox McCloud in the animated adventure. Many noted his blend of charm and action‑hero energy as a good fit for the character, who has been a fan favorite in Nintendo games since his 1993 debut in Star Fox.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie builds on the success of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide and became one of the highest‑grossing animated films ever. The sequel will follow Mario and friends as they embark on a galaxy‑spanning quest filled with new allies, villains, and beloved Nintendo faces.
With Powell now officially part of the expanded cast, anticipation for the April release continues to grow among fans of both the Mario and Star Fox franchises.
