'Super Mario Galaxy Movie' adds Fox McCloud in crossover with Star Fox and Smash Bros
Fox McCloud joins 'Super Mario Galaxy Movie', expanding crossover links with Star Fox and Smash Bros series

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to expand its crossover elements with the addition of Fox McCloud, a character from the Star Fox and Super Smash Bros video game franchises.
The announcement confirms speculation among fans, who had previously identified a brief appearance of the space pilot in an earlier trailer for the film.
The confirmation marks a significant addition to the film’s cast of characters drawn from across Nintendo properties. No voice actor for Fox McCloud has been announced at this stage.
Fox McCloud was first introduced in the 1993 game Star Fox on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and has since appeared in multiple entries, including Star Fox 64, Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox: Assault, Star Fox: Command and Star Fox 2.
The character is also widely recognised for his role in the Super Smash Bros series, where he has appeared since the original 1999 release on the Nintendo 64.
Super Smash Bros is known for bringing together characters from various Nintendo franchises, including Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong and Yoshi, alongside later additions such as Bowser, Peach, Rosalina and Diddy Kong.
Other characters connected to the Star Fox universe, including Falco Lombardi and Wolf O’Donnell, have also been featured in the series.
The inclusion of Fox McCloud in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie follows earlier hints suggesting a broader crossover direction. Previous promotional material included a reference to Pikmin, associated with Captain Olimar, another character featured in Super Smash Bros.
The growing list of interconnected characters has led to speculation among fans about the potential expansion of a shared cinematic universe based on Nintendo properties.
Characters such as Samus and Captain Falcon have been mentioned in discussions, although no official announcements have been made regarding their inclusion.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled for release in cinemas on April 1.
