Five robbers sentenced to death, life terms

Court awards 100 years' imprisonment, Rs18 million fine

An additional district and sessions judge in Rawalpindi has sentenced five robbers involved in a high-profile murder during a robbery in the limits of Banni police station to death, life imprisonment, 100 years' imprisonment, fines worth Rs18 million and compensation of Rs5 million after the charges were proven.

The court ruled that the convicts should be hanged until death, declaring that committing robbery after entering a house and then killing a resident is a heinous crime that does not merit any leniency.

Convict Sher Gul was awarded the death penalty and fined Rs1 million for murder. He was also sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs1 million for robbery, life imprisonment and Rs1 million fine under Section 460, 10 years' imprisonment and Rs0.5 million fine for robbery, and 10 years' imprisonment and Rs0.5 million fine for attempted murder.

Convict Ayub Khan was awarded the death penalty along with Rs1 million compensation for murder. He was also sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs1 million for robbery, life imprisonment and Rs1 million fine for house trespass, 10 years' imprisonment and Rs0.5 million fine for robbery, and 10 years' imprisonment and Rs0.5 million fine for attempted murder.

Convict Ikramullah was awarded the death penalty and Rs1 million compensation for murder. He was also sentenced to life imprisonment and Rs1 million fine for robbery, life imprisonment and Rs1 million fine for forced entry, life imprisonment and Rs1 million fine for recovery of stolen property, 10 years' imprisonment and Rs0.5 million fine for robbery, and 10 years' imprisonment and Rs0.5 million fine for attempted murder.

Convict Sarfraz was awarded the death penalty and Rs1 million compensation for murder.
