Netflix has expanded the cast of "The Altruists," its limited series chronicling the rise and fall of FTX, with six recurring players including "Heated Rivalry" breakout Hudson Williams.

Williams, who stars as Shane Hollander in the hit HBO hockey drama, will portray Duncan Rheingans‑Yoo in the eight-episode series. He joins a growing ensemble that includes Oscar nominee Jennifer Grey as Sarah Fisher Ellison, Terry Chen as CZ, Elizabeth Adams as Hannah, Hannah Galway as Lucy, and William Mapother as Dr. Lerner.

The series, which shot over the summer and fall of 2025, centers on the tumultuous story of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison. Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle lead the cast in those roles, with the show promising to explore how two ambitious young idealists attempted to reshape global finance before being accused of stealing $8 billion.

The official logline describes the pair as "Gen Z's own Bonnie & Clyde." The project draws inspiration from New York Magazine's reporting on the cryptocurrency exchange's dramatic collapse.

Previously announced series regulars include Eugene Young, Madison Hu, Karan Soni, Matt Rife, Alex Lawther, and Naomi Okada. The recurring roster also features Maddie Hasson, Marianna Phung, Paul Reiser, and Robin Weigert.

Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. James Ponsoldt executive produces and directed the first episode. Higher Ground Productions, the company founded by Barack and Michelle Obama, is behind the project, with Jessie Dicovitsky and Vinnie Malhotra executive producing. Scoop Wasserstein executive produces for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, alongside Tonia Davis, Lauren Morelli, and star Julia Garner.

"The Altruists" marks the latest high-profile streaming project to tackle the FTX saga, bringing together award-winning talent both in front of and behind the camera. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
