FKA Twigs has reignited her legal dispute with Shia LaBeouf, filing a new lawsuit that challenges the enforceability of a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) tied to their previous settlement.

The complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that the NDA unlawfully restricts her ability to speak about alleged sexual abuse and broader issues of sexual violence.

Represented by high-profile attorney Mathew Rosengart, the singer—whose real name is Tahliah Barnett—argues that the agreement violates California laws designed to protect survivors. The lawsuit seeks a court order to block LaBeouf from enforcing provisions that allegedly silence her from sharing her experiences or discussing abuse in general terms.

The dispute stems from a settlement reached in 2025 following Barnett’s 2020 lawsuit accusing LaBeouf of “relentless abuse,” including physical and emotional harm. In December, LaBeouf’s legal team initiated arbitration proceedings, claiming Barnett breached the NDA after stating in an interview that she did not feel safe with that chapter of her life behind her. Although the arbitration was later dropped, the disagreement over the NDA has escalated into fresh legal action.

Barnett’s complaint cites California’s STAND Act, which restricts the use of NDAs in cases involving sexual misconduct, harassment, or discrimination. Her legal team contends that the agreement unlawfully prevents survivors from speaking out, undermining the intent of the legislation.

LaBeouf’s attorneys have argued that the law does not apply in this instance, maintaining that the original claims fall outside its scope. The new filing does not seek financial damages but instead focuses on invalidating the NDA provisions.

The case is expected to draw significant attention as it could impact how NDAs are enforced in future sexual misconduct settlements.
