'Invincible' Season 4 Episode 7 confirms major death and Oliver’s fate in storyline

The latest episode of Invincible Season 4 has confirmed a major character death while clarifying the fate of Oliver following a violent confrontation.

In Episode 7, titled “Don’t Do Anything Rash”, the story centres on a large-scale battle between Invincible, Omni-Man and their allies against Grand Regent Thragg and the remaining Viltrumites. The conflict results in multiple severe injuries to key characters, reflecting the high stakes of the ongoing storyline.

According to the episode, Great Thaedus is killed during the confrontation in a decisive moment. The character is attacked by Thragg, who tears off his head and crushes it, confirming his death within the narrative. Reports note that, unlike other characters who have survived extreme injuries in the series, Thaedus does not recover.

The depiction is consistent with the original comic books by Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley and Cory Walker, where Thaedus’s death occurs in a similar manner. While the character may reappear in flashbacks, there is no indication of a return through alternative story devices such as clones or parallel versions.

The episode also addresses the fate of Oliver, who suffers significant injuries during the same battle. Thragg is shown tearing off one of his arms and severely damaging his jaw, leaving him unable to continue fighting.

However, according to the comics, Oliver is not killed. Instead, he survives and is later placed in stasis while receiving medical treatment. He is eventually fitted with a prosthetic jaw and arm, allowing him to recover over time and return to the story.
