Prince William Marks UK Mother's Day with unseen photo of Princess Diana
'Remembering my mother, today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love,' he wrote

Prince William marked Mothering Sunday in the United Kingdom with a touching tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana, sharing a previously unseen childhood photograph on social media.
The Prince of Wales, 43, posted the throwback image taken in 1984 at Highgrove, showing a two-year-old William holding hands with Diana while walking through a field of flowers. Alongside the photo, he wrote a heartfelt caption: “Remembering my mother, today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day. W.”
Diana, widely known as the Princess of Wales, died in a car crash in Paris in 1997 when William was just 15 years old. Despite the years that have passed, the prince has occasionally spoken about the lasting impact of her influence on his life and charitable work.
Mothering Sunday, the UK’s equivalent of Mother’s Day, is typically celebrated by families honoring mothers and maternal figures. Across the royal family, other members also shared tributes marking the occasion. King Charles III and Queen Camilla posted archival photos honoring their own mothers, including images of Queen Elizabeth II and Camilla’s late mother, Rosalind Shand.
Meanwhile, Catherine, Princess of Wales, who shares three children with William, Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales, did not post a public Mother’s Day message this year, though she has previously reflected on motherhood and the role family has played during difficult moments in her life.
The royal couple has often emphasised keeping family life as normal as possible for their children while balancing their growing responsibilities within the monarchy. They are also expected to appear alongside senior royals for upcoming official engagements, including a state visit hosted by King Charles later this week.
William’s rare glimpse into his personal photo collection offered a poignant reminder of his bond with Diana and the enduring legacy she left on both her sons and the royal family.
