Hamish Linklater joins Prime Video’s Bosch spinoff ‘Ballard’ Season 2 as Chris Alexander in a major recurring role

Hamish Linklater has joined the cast of Ballard Season 2 in a major recurring role, expanding the lineup of the Bosch spinoff series streaming on Prime Video.
Inspired by the novels of bestselling crime writer Michael Connelly, Ballard follows Detective Renée Ballard, played by Maggie Q, as she leads the Los Angeles Police Department’s newly formed and underfunded cold case unit. The division focuses on solving the city’s most difficult and long-forgotten crimes, often with limited resources and mounting pressure.
Ballard receives support from a small team of volunteers and retired detective Harry Bosch, portrayed by Titus Welliver. Together, they work to uncover hidden truths while navigating personal challenges and dangerous investigations in Los Angeles.
Linklater will portray Chris Alexander, an ambitious and charismatic figure whose intelligence and sincerity initially make him appealing. However, beneath his confident demeanor lies a strategic mind and a strong desire for control, making him a significant and potentially unpredictable presence throughout the season.
Season 2 also features returning cast members including Courtney Taylor, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill, and John Carroll Lynch. Previously announced additions to the cast include Benjamin Bratt, Rosanna Arquette, and Ever Carradine.
The series is executive produced by Connelly alongside Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Henrik Bastin, Jasmine Russ, and Trish Hofmann.
Linklater recently appeared in Gen V Season 2 and starred as President Abraham Lincoln in the Apple TV+ historical drama Manhunt. He is also widely recognized for his role in the Netflix miniseries Midnight Mass.
Production on Ballard Season 2 continues as the series expands the world of the Bosch franchise on Prime Video.
