Katie Leung is urging fans to support a charity working with displaced children and families in Gaza, highlighting a Ramadan fundraising appeal aimed at providing essential aid and education.
“Please join me in supporting the essential and urgent work of @ajyalfoundation, who help educate, clothe, feed and provide hope to displaced children and their families in Gaza,” Leung wrote in a social media post.
The actor noted that the organization is currently running a limited-time Ramadan campaign to help expand its efforts. “They’re running a Ramadan appeal for another week to provide meals and educational opportunities for kids in Gaza (donations will be matched up to £5k). Thank you.”
Leung is widely known for playing Cho Chang in the Harry Potter film franchise, appearing in several installments of the globally successful series opposite Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. She has since continued her career across television, film and theatre, including appearing in the hit Netflix period drama Bridgerton, where she played Lady Araminta Gun.
Beyond her acting work, Leung has also used her platform to speak about social and humanitarian issues. In recent years she has voiced support for Palestinian rights and has been among several public figures calling attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
