The world celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026. The Sarsabz Tabeer programme by Fatima Fertilizer’s flagship, paid tribute to the countless rural women whose labor quietly sustains Pakistan’s agricultural economy.
Launched as part of the “Sarsabz Tabeer: Seeds of Change” campaign, the initiative recognizes the resilience of women who work tirelessly across Pakistan’s farmlands. These women are not only mothers, daughters, and sisters — they are entrepreneurs, farmers, and economic contributors who nurture both their families and the land.
Through interest-free loans, training programmes, and entrepreneurial support, Sarsabz Tabeer aims to help rural women build independent livelihoods and transform their agricultural knowledge into sustainable businesses.
The advertisement: A story of a woman and the land
The campaign’s video captures a vivid portrait of rural Pakistan, where women are shown working across golden wheat fields, preparing produce, and engaging in small-scale agricultural enterprises.
Rather than portraying women as helpers in the households, the advertisement reframes them as drivers of the economy. The visuals highlight women harvesting crops, processing fruits, and transforming surplus produce into value-added products such as jam, ketchup, and pickles.
The visual storytelling reflects a deeper reality: agriculture contributes to 22% of Pakistan’s economy, with women taking up more than 70% of the agricultural workplace, double that of men.
The video also emphasises the importance of mobility and independence, showing women delivering products on motorcycles and managing small businesses. These scenes symbolise a shift from traditional roles to more economic participation and self-independence.

Through training sessions from international development experts at USAID and in partnership with the Akhuwat Foundation, thousands of women have learned new food processing techniques that reduce food-product waste.
Training centres across Punjab, Sindh, and Gilgit-Balistan have been equipped with schools that teach women the knowledge needed to establish home-based agricultural businesses.
Women as the backbone of rural Pakistan
The Seeds for Change initiative goes beyond celebrating women, it seeks to nurture potential women. By placing women at the frontline of Pakistan’s agricultural story, the advertisement proves that rural women are the custodians of Pakistan’s agricultural heritage.
In doing so, it plants a more inclusive agricultural landscape, one where the women who cultivate their land also share in the prosperity it creates.
