Savannah Guthrie has returned to the Today show studio for the first time since stepping away from the program amid the ongoing search for her missing mother.

The NBC anchor made an off-camera visit to Studio 1A at Rockefeller Plaza, where she greeted and thanked her colleagues for their support during what has been a deeply difficult time for her family. Although she has not yet resumed her on-air role, NBC confirmed that Guthrie plans to return to the show.

Her visit prompted emotional reactions from co-hosts, including Jenna Bush Hager, who shared that Guthrie embraced members of the Today team and expressed gratitude for the encouragement she has received. Colleagues praised her strength and said the studio felt like “home” again with her presence.

Guthrie has been absent from the morning program since early February after her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared from her home near Tucson, Arizona. Authorities believe she may have been abducted after evidence suggested she did not leave voluntarily.

The case has drawn national attention as investigators continue to search for clues. Guthrie and her family have offered a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy’s safe return, while the FBI and local law-enforcement agencies remain involved in the investigation.

During her time away from television, Guthrie has focused on supporting her family and assisting with the search efforts. Her brief return to the studio signals a step toward resuming her role on Today, though no official timeline for her on-air comeback has been announced.

For now, the veteran journalist continues to balance the personal crisis with the support of her NBC colleagues and viewers who have rallied around her as the search for her mother continues.
