Adam Sandler's new Netflix movie, ‘Roommates’, has officially set an April 2026 release date, with the streaming giant unveiling a first-look poster for the upcoming coming-of-age comedy.

The film will premiere on Netflix on April 17, 2026, continuing Sandler's exclusive partnership with the platform that began in 2015. Unlike many of his previous Netflix projects, Sandler is not starring in Roommates but serves as producer.

The newly released poster showcases stars Sadie Sandler and Chloe East taking a selfie together, offering a glimpse into the film's college-set comedy tone. Sadie Sandler, Adam Sandler's real-life daughter, leads the cast as Devon, described as a "hopeful and naive college freshman."

According to Netflix's official synopsis, Devon asks the cool and confident Celeste, played by Chloe East, to be her roommate. What begins as a blossoming friendship soon spirals into a war of passive aggression between the two young women.

Roommates is directed by Chandler Levack, known for the critically acclaied I Like Movies. The screenplay comes from Jimmy Fowlie and Ceara Jane O'Sullivan, both of Saturday Night Live writing fame.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast alongside Sadie Sandler and Chloe East. The star-studded lineup includes Billy Bryk, Sarah Sherman, Martin Herlihy, Josh Segarra, Carol Kane, Janeane Garofalo, Aidan Langford, Bella Murphy, Jaya Harper, Storm Reid, Ivy Wolk, Bailee Madison, Natasha Lyonne, and Nick Kroll.

Several cast members bring Saturday Night Live connections, including Sarah Sherman, Martin Herlihy, and writers Fowlie and O'Sullivan, suggesting a comedic pedigree for the project.

While Adam Sandler has dominated Netflix with comedies like Murder Mystery, Hubie Halloween, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, and the recent Happy Gilmore 2, Roommates represents a different direction. By stepping back as producer and spotlighting his daughter in the lead role, Sandler appears to be expanding his Netflix footprint beyond his signature on-screen performances.

With an up-and-coming director in Chandler Levack and a deep bench of comedic talent, Roommates positions itself as a coming-of-age story worth watching when it arrives on Netflix April 17, 2026.
