Meryl Streep linked to Gisèle Pelicot role in major US series adaptation
Meryl Streep is reportedly in talks to play Gisèle Pelicot in a U.S. series based on her bestselling memoir

The story of Gisèle Pelicot is reportedly being adapted into an American television series, with Meryl Streep tipped to take on the lead role.
The development was first revealed by Marianne in an exclusive report.
Pelicot’s memoir, Et la joie de vivre, co-written with journalist Judith Perrignon and published by Flammarion, has become a major publishing success. The book quickly climbed to the top of France’s bestseller list, selling more than 63,000 copies in its initial print run. It has since been translated into 22 languages, highlighting strong international demand and positioning the memoir as a global true crime bestseller.
The memoir recounts the crimes orchestrated by Pelicot’s former husband, Dominique Pelicot, who was accused of arranging repeated rapes and sexual assaults involving dozens of men. The subsequent trial drew worldwide attention and sparked significant debate around issues of consent, justice, and victim advocacy.
According to Marianne, American producers are developing a scripted series inspired by the book, aiming to bring Pelicot’s story to a broader international audience. While no official casting announcement has been confirmed, Streep has reportedly emerged as a leading contender for the role, given her extensive experience portraying complex real-life figures.
Further updates regarding production details, network distribution, and casting are expected as the project advances.
