Solid Snake will join Rainbow Six Siege as a permanent, playable Operator when Operation Silent Hunt launches on March 3.

The character from the Metal Gear Solid series arrives with a unique gadget, the Soliton Radar MKIII, and a new ability titled On-Site Procurement. The collaboration also includes themed cosmetics and a limited-time event later in the season.

The Soliton Radar MKIII is a handheld device that displays the floorplan of Snake’s immediate surroundings and detects enemies on the same level, including connected staircases. It distinguishes between soft walls and floors and signals threats using colour-coded alerts.

Green indicates “All Clear”, yellow highlights active default CCTV cameras being watched by enemies, and red signals detected opponents. In precision mode, the radar shows the position icon and vision cone of detected enemies, though it has limited charges and a cooldown period.

Defenders are notified when detected and can reposition or counterattack. Certain Operators can counter the radar. Alibi’s Prisma holograms appear as normal Operators, Vigil’s Electronic Rendering Cloak hides him from detection, and Mute’s jammers disrupt the device.

The radar does not detect non-default camera gadgets, including those used by Valkyrie, Maestro, Echo, Mozzie or Skopós.

Snake’s On-Site Procurement ability allows him to carry up to five different secondary gadgets, including frag grenades, stun grenades and breach charges. He begins each round with one item and can collect additional gadgets from eliminated Operators’ utility pouches.

He can equip either the PMR90A2 designated marksman rifle or the F2 assault rifle, which will receive new grip attachment options. His secondary weapon, the TACIT .45 pistol, features an integrated suppressor and reflex sight.

Operation Silent Hunt will also introduce map updates, balancing changes and a limited-time event featuring a 4v4 mode set on a modified version of Nighthaven Labs.
