Jason Momoa debuts as Lobo in first look from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
James Gunn has revealed the first official look at Jason Momoa as Lobo in DC’s upcoming film Supergirl

James Gunn has unveiled the first official look at Jason Momoa as the DC antihero Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
The reveal was shared via Instagram, where Gunn posted behind-the-scenes footage showing Momoa stepping out of his trailer in costume before heading to set, followed by a still image offering a clearer look at the character.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El and serves as the second theatrical release in Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted DC Universe. The film follows Superman, which is scheduled for release in 2025 and stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
The film is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, based on the DC Comics series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. In addition to Alcock and Momoa, the cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as villain Krem of the Yellow Hill and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle.
Momoa’s casting as Lobo was officially announced in December 2024, confirming long-standing fan speculation. The actor has previously spoken about his enthusiasm for the character, calling Lobo his favorite DC comic figure and describing the role as a natural fit. Momoa, who previously portrayed Aquaman in the former DC Extended Universe, has emphasized that Lobo was a character he had hoped to play for years.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is positioned as a key installment in DC Studios’ new cinematic direction, expanding the universe beyond Superman-focused stories. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 26, marking Lobo’s first live-action appearance within the rebooted DC Universe.
