Panasonic has announced an unexpected collaboration to mark the 30th anniversary of Neon Genesis Evangelion, unveiling a range of Evangelion-themed electric screwdrivers inspired by the anime’s iconic mechs.

Rather than releasing traditional collector items such as figures or apparel, the Japanese electronics company has partnered with Studio Khara to create special editions of its rechargeable mini electric screwdriver.

Each model is themed around a different Evangelion unit, featuring colour schemes based on the respective mechs, printed unit numbering on the end cap, and packaging styled to match each Eva design.

Despite their anime-inspired appearance, the tools retain Panasonic’s standard specifications. Each electric screwdriver operates at 850 revolutions per minute and includes a built-in LED light designed for use in low-light environments. Panasonic states that a full charge allows the tool to tighten approximately 2,000 screws.

The standard Evangelion edition screwdriver is priced at 18,480 yen, or around $123 USD. A premium Unit-01 special package will retail for 21,780 yen, approximately $145 USD.

This version includes a themed carry case and an attachment modelled after the Spear of Longinus, a recurring symbol within the Evangelion franchise.

The Evangelion power tool collaboration is scheduled for release in Japan on February 2, 2026. At the time of publication, Panasonic has not announced plans for an international release.

Fans have noted that the collaboration continues the franchise’s long history of unconventional merchandise, which has previously included food, fashion and lifestyle products. Neon Genesis Evangelion first aired in 1995 and remains one of Japan’s most influential anime series.
