Sophie Turner, Kit Harington reunite in gothic horror 'The Dreadful' as trailer is released
Turner and Harington are known for playing siblings, Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, on the hit TV show Game of Throne

Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, best known for playing Sansa Stark and Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, are reuniting onscreen as romantic leads in the new gothic horror film The Dreadful, and the recently released trailer teases a dark and intense story that pushes both actors far outside their comfort zones.
In The Dreadful, set in 15th‑century England against the backdrop of the Wars of the Roses, Turner plays Anne, a woman living on the fringes of society with her domineering mother‑in‑law, Morwen, portrayed by Marcia Gay Harden. When a man from Anne’s past, Jago, played by Harington, returns, his presence ignites a haunting chain of events involving violence, curses and emotional turmoil.
The trailer reveals an eerie atmosphere filled with foreboding forests, tense confrontations and the palpable chemistry between Turner and Harington as lovers rather than siblings, a shift Turner herself has acknowledged was an unusual and awkward transition.
Turner previously opened up about the oddness of filming romantic scenes with Harington, admitting that the experience felt strange given their history as on‑screen siblings for eight seasons on Game of Thrones. Reflecting on one particularly intimate moment, she recalled that their first onscreen kiss left both of them “retching” and called the experience “really vile,” joking that it was “the worst.”
Turner also shared that she had a hand in bringing Harington onboard the project, sending him the script early on — only to realize later that it involved several romantic scenes between their characters. Harington described the dynamic as “very odd” at first, but ultimately said working together again was a welcome opportunity and that it felt like being with family.
The Dreadful promises to be a haunting blend of period drama and horror, with Turner and Harington’s reunion offering both longtime fans and genre lovers a strikingly different chapter in their shared onscreen legacy. The film is set to be released digitally and in theaters on February 20, 2026, with the trailer giving just a first glimpse of its chilling tone and emotional intensity.
