Kat Dennings says Marvel scanned her likeness for future MCU projects
Kat Dennings revealed Marvel digitally scanned her, allowing studio to potentially use her likeness across

Kat Dennings has revealed that Marvel Studios has digitally scanned her, allowing the company to potentially use her likeness in future projects. The actress shared the information during an interview with Entertainment Tonight while filming her ABC sitcom Shifting Gears.
Dennings has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011, portraying Darcy Lewis in Thor. She has since reprised the role in Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Love and Thunder, the Disney+ series WandaVision, and the animated Marvel show What If…?, where she most recently voiced the character.
The revelation surfaced when Dennings was asked about possible involvement in the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday. She responded humorously, denying any participation in the movie while noting that Marvel has already captured her digital image. Dennings said the scan means the studio could theoretically place her character into future projects without her physically appearing on set.
Despite her long-standing relationship with Marvel, Dennings’ future involvement with the franchise remains unclear. Marvel Studios has not publicly detailed how or if her scanned likeness will be used moving forward.
Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for theatrical release on Dec. 18, will be led by Chris Hemsworth, who returns as Thor. Promotional material suggests the character will play a significant role in the film.
The use of body scanning technology has become increasingly common across the film industry, though it has sparked debate among actors. Variety notes that Nicolas Cage previously expressed concerns about such practices, citing fears that artificial intelligence could be used to recreate performers without consent after their deaths.
At this time, Marvel has not commented on the specifics of its digital scanning policies or future plans involving scanned actors.
