A new installment in the Jackass film franchise is officially headed to theaters this summer. Paramount Pictures will release a new Jackass movie nationwide on June 26, according to Variety.

Johnny Knoxville confirmed the project’s theatrical return through a joint Instagram post shared with the official Jackass account and Gorilla Flicks, the production company founded by franchise director Jeff Tremaine. While the post did not explicitly name the film as Jackass 5, Variety reports that the release is a brand-new installment rather than a re-release of earlier films.

In the post, Knoxville and the Jackass team announced that the franchise would return to theaters in June, promising additional details at a later date. Paramount subsequently confirmed the release date.

The upcoming film arrives four years after the release of Jackass Forever in 2022, which marked the franchise’s return after more than a decade. That film featured many of the original cast members performing dangerous and often extreme stunts, while also introducing a new generation of performers including Zach Holmes, Sean “Poopies” McInerney, Jasper Dolphin, Eric Manaka, and Rachel Wolfson.

Details about the cast of the new film have not yet been revealed beyond Knoxville’s involvement. However, it appears unlikely that longtime cast member Bam Margera will return. Margera was removed from Jackass Forever after violating contractual agreements related to substance abuse and has since stated publicly that he has no interest in participating in future Jackass projects.

The Jackass franchise began as a television series on MTV in the early 2000s before expanding into a long-running film series. Over the years, it has maintained a dedicated fan base that spans multiple generations.

In a 2022 review of Jackass Forever, Variety chief film critic Owen Gleiberman noted that despite the cast’s advancing ages, the performers continued to commit to increasingly elaborate and physically demanding stunts, describing the franchise as an enduring display of reckless humor and endurance.

Additional information about the new Jackass movie, including its official title and cast lineup, is expected to be announced in the coming months.
