‘90210’ star, Ian Ziering, accused of battery and assault by biker
Ian Ziering is accused of battery and assault after a New Year’s Eve road rage incident left biker injured

Ian Ziering, best known for his role on Beverly Hills, 90210, is facing a civil lawsuit following a New Year’s Eve 2023 altercation with a biker. According to court documents reviewed, Jacob Hernandez, 20 at the time, alleges that Ziering verbally and physically assaulted him unprovoked during a road rage incident in Los Angeles. The complaint claims Ziering’s actions were intentional, unnecessary, and caused foreseeable physical and emotional harm.
The incident reportedly occurred when Hernandez and a friend were riding motorbikes through a congested street and stopped in front of Ziering’s stationary Mercedes-Benz. The filing states that Ziering suddenly exited his car, yelled at Hernandez, and shoved him, causing both riders to fall along with their bikes. Both individuals sustained injuries, and the motorcycles were damaged, the lawsuit claims.
As the confrontation escalated, additional bystanders joined in, leading to what Hernandez described as a “melee,” which he says was captured on video. The complaint further alleges that Ziering used his celebrity status to influence public perception of the incident through interviews and social media, casting Hernandez as the aggressor.
Hernandez asserts that Ziering’s actions led to his wrongful arrest on May 21, 2024, where he was held on $50,000 bail before being released. Authorities later determined there was no criminal case against him. The lawsuit says the negative publicity caused Hernandez significant mental health issues, including extreme anxiety, panic attacks, and paranoia, and that he now avoids leaving his home or using social media due to fear of public humiliation.
The civil suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages and requests a jury trial. At the time of the incident, Ziering was reportedly with his 10-year-old daughter, Penna, and video footage showed the actor surrounded by a group of mini-bike riders before the fight broke out. An LAPD statement confirmed a physical altercation occurred, though neither Ziering nor his child sustained serious injuries.
Ziering addressed the incident on Instagram on January 1, 2024, describing it as an “alarming incident” and claiming he exited his car to assess potential damage. He said the situation escalated into a confrontation he navigated to protect himself and expressed concern over the increasing boldness of such groups disrupting public safety.
The civil case now brings Ziering back into the spotlight as the allegations continue to unfold.
