New Witcher 3 DLC tipped for 2026 as potential bridge to The Witcher 4
New Witcher 3 expansion is reportedly planned for 2026, with analysts suggesting it could lead into The Witcher 4

More than a decade after the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, new claims suggest the game may receive an additional paid expansion in 2026, potentially serving as a narrative link to the next main entry in the series.
Speculation around a new DLC first emerged earlier this year when Polish leaker Borys Nieśpielak claimed that an expansion was in development.
According to the report, the project is said to be handled by Fool’s Theory, a studio currently working on the remake of the original Witcher game. While the expansion was previously expected to be revealed at The Game Awards, no announcement was made at the event.
Further discussion has now come from Polish analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski of Noble Securities, who said he expects a new paid add-on for The Witcher 3 to launch in May 2026.
Speaking in a translated statement, Chrzanowski said, “We expect another paid add-on (DLC) for The Witcher 3 to be released in May 2026. We anticipate sales of 11 million copies at USD 30 each next year. We estimate the production budget at PLN 52 million. The release should kick off the actual marketing campaign for The Witcher 4.”
If accurate, the DLC would arrive nearly 11 years after the original game’s launch and shortly after the tenth anniversary of its Blood and Wine expansion. The analyst’s comments suggest the release could serve as a narrative bridge between The Witcher 3 and its upcoming sequel.
Chrzanowski also stated that The Witcher 4 is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2027. CD Projekt Red has previously confirmed that the game will not be released before the end of 2026, placing a 2027 launch within its stated timeframe.
Separately, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3 will receive one final update in 2026, adding cross-platform mod support for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. The update was originally planned for 2025 before being delayed.
At present, the reported DLC remains unconfirmed, and CD Projekt Red has not announced any new content beyond the planned technical update.
