Paul Bettany hints at vision’s next move in the MCU
Paul Bettany teases Vision’s return in Avengers: Secret Wars as Marvel Phase 6 nears its epic conclusion

Paul Bettany has seemingly confirmed that his Marvel Cinematic Universe character Vision will return for Avengers: Secret Wars, according to The Telegraph and ComicBook.com.
As the Phase 6 finale approaches, the film is set to conclude the Multiverse Saga, following the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
Speaking about his upcoming projects, Bettany told The Telegraph journalists, “I think I’ve got some Avengers duties next year,” adding that rumors of mountains of scripts are overblown. While he has not officially been announced for the Avengers: Doomsday cast, principal photography for Secret Wars wrapped in September 2025. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo are returning to helm the highly anticipated Marvel installment, with filming continuing next summer.
Vision joins a growing list of returning MCU veterans for Secret Wars, including Letitia Wright as Shuri. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously described the upcoming film not as a reboot but as a “reset,” aiming to streamline the MCU into a singular timeline.
Bettany will also reprise his role in the Disney+ series VisionQuest, the final installment of the WandaVision trilogy, though a premiere date has not yet been announced. While only a few cast members have been officially confirmed for Secret Wars, including Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, more announcements are expected prior to filming, following Marvel’s typical phased reveal strategy.
Avengers: Secret Wars is slated to hit theaters on December 17, 2027. Bettany’s return as Vision marks another exciting development for fans anticipating the climactic chapter of Phase 6, bridging key characters from previous MCU storylines while setting the stage for the franchise’s reset.
