Letitia Wright confirms she will return as Shuri in Avengers: Secret Wars as Marvel’s Phase 6 finale moves closer

Letitia Wright has officially confirmed her return as Shuri in Avengers: Secret Wars, adding another major name to the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe lineup for its Phase 6 finale.
As Marvel continues shaping the final chapters of The Multiverse Saga, more casting details are beginning to surface for the highly anticipated ensemble film.
Wright revealed her involvement during an interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley while promoting her directorial debut, Highway to the Moon. When asked about the status of Black Panther 3, Wright initially mentioned that she had “finished Secret Wars” before correcting herself, clarifying that she had completed work on Avengers: Doomsday, with Secret Wars scheduled next. She described Doomsday as “really great,” adding that she enjoyed the experience and looks forward to fans seeing the results.
As the current Black Panther, Wright acknowledged the weight of her expanded role within the Avengers lineup, noting the honor and responsibility it carries. She emphasized that stepping into the mantle continues to be a tribute to what the franchise established in earlier films, as well as to the legacy of her late co-star Chadwick Boseman.
Wright declined to share major plot or character details from Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, saying she “cannot say anything.” She also commented on the future of Shuri and the Black Panther franchise, expressing excitement for Marvel’s evolving storylines while avoiding confirmation on rumors regarding T’Challa’s potential recast.
Avengers: Secret Wars begins filming in summer 2026, with Anthony and Joe Russo returning to direct. The film is set for release on December 17, 2027, with additional cast details expected to emerge closer to production.
