Caleb McLaughlin, best known for playing Lucas Sinclair in Stranger Things, recently shared that portraying Miles Morales’ Spider-Man is among the roles he’d love to take on someday. The actor’s comments surfaced during a Time magazine game segment promoting Stranger Things Season 5, where the cast tested how well they knew each other.

During the game, co-star Sadie Sink guessed that McLaughlin’s dream role would be Miles Morales. McLaughlin wrote down “Avatar” instead but agreed that playing the Marvel hero would also be a dream opportunity. He responded, “I mean, that’s a dream role, but Avatar, I would want to be in Avatar.”

Miles Morales has yet to appear in live-action despite his massive success in Sony’s animated Spider-Verse films. Into the Spider-Verse earned $394 million globally, and Across the Spider-Verse nearly doubled that with $690 million. The character continues to appear in animation and video games, but Marvel Studios has not moved forward with a live-action version.

Although Miles was referenced in Spider-Man: Homecoming through the introduction of Aaron Davis (Donald Glover), Marvel president Kevin Feige told Variety in July 2025 that Miles’ live-action debut “is nowhere,” explaining that Sony instructed Marvel to avoid using the character until the animated trilogy concludes with Beyond the Spider-Verse in 2027.

Despite the delay, fans continue to speculate who might one day take on the role. McLaughlin’s expressed interest adds fuel to ongoing fan-casting discussions, especially with his growing profile after years on Stranger Things. Meanwhile, Sadie Sink’s involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day adds another layer of coincidence to her naming Miles as his dream part.

Miles Morales will next appear in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse on June 18, 2027. Before that, Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31, 2026.
