Power Rangers reboot confirmed for Disney+ with Percy Jackson showrunners

A new Power Rangers series is coming to Disney+, with Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz leading the project

Disney+ is set to receive a new Power Rangers series, officially confirmed by showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz, best known for their work on Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The series aims to revitalize the iconic superhero franchise for a new generation while staying true to the legacy of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

During a promotional event for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, Steinberg confirmed to MovieWeb that the Power Rangers reboot is indeed in development, though specific details about the story, characters, or continuity remain under wraps. Shotz added that they are focused on bringing the Power Rangers story “to life” but could not reveal whether it will follow the original cast—Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly—or introduce an entirely new team of Rangers.

The reboot is expected to be produced in partnership with Hasbro, and Steinberg and Shotz will serve as showrunners and executive producers. Initial reports suggest the series will be a reimagining of the franchise, designed to appeal to both longtime fans and a younger audience unfamiliar with the original series.

Fans of the franchise have been awaiting news of a revival since rumors first emerged in March 2025. With Disney+ backing the project and experienced showrunners at the helm, the reboot is positioned to deliver high-quality storytelling, action-packed sequences, and the signature teamwork and heroics Power Rangers are known for.
