Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey sets theatrical release dates for prologue and trailer
New footage from Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is set to debut in theaters soon

Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated epic, The Odyssey, is set to bring audiences an early glimpse of the story before its full theatrical release.
According to industry sources, a nearly six-minute prologue from the film is set to screen exclusively ahead of IMAX showings of Sinners and One Battle After Another beginning December 12.
One week later, starting December 19, the first full trailer for The Odyssey is expected to appear before screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The staggered rollout mirrors the marketing approach often used for Nolan’s previous blockbusters, offering audiences a substantial preview before the main promotional wave begins.
Early descriptions of the prologue surfaced in a recent Empire feature, teasing an opening sequence centered around Odysseus and the iconic Trojan horse.
The footage reportedly showcases soldiers hauling the massive structure up a beach with raw physical force before briefly shifting to battlefield chaos, and closing with a striking glimpse of the Cyclops, one of the many mythological figures Odysseus will face.
Matt Damon leads the film as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca whose long, perilous journey home after the Trojan War forms the heart of Homer’s classic tale.
His odyssey spans encounters with gods, monsters, and seductions, including the Sirens and Circe, blending sweeping mythology with Nolan’s signature grounded intensity.
The Odyssey marks Christopher Nolan’s first film since Oppenheimer, which earned seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director.
The new project is described by Universal as a “mythic action epic” filmed across multiple countries using next-generation IMAX technology, suggesting one of the director’s most ambitious productions yet.
Joining Damon is a high-profile ensemble cast: Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Zendaya as Athena, Robert Pattinson as Antinous, Charlize Theron as Circe, and Jon Bernthal as Menelaus. The supporting lineup features John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Lupita Nyong’o, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Corey Hawkins, Logan Marshall-Green, and many others.
With its prologue and trailer rolling out in December, anticipation will only grow ahead of the film’s full release. The Odyssey is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2026.
