Marcello Hernández and Skyler Gisondo join Shrek 5 as voices of Fergus and Farkle, expanding Shrek and Fiona’s family

Shrek 5 is adding new layers to its royal family, as Saturday Night Live breakout Marcello Hernández and Superman star Skyler Gisondo have officially joined the voice cast.
The two actors will portray Fergus and Farkle, the sons of Shrek and Princess Fiona, bringing fresh energy to the long-running DreamWorks Animation franchise.
They join returning cast members Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz, who reprise their beloved roles as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. The sequel also features Zendaya, who will voice Felicia, the daughter of Shrek and Fiona, marking another high-profile addition to the film.
Shrek 5 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 30, 2027, promising new adventures in Far Far Away while reuniting fans with the characters that helped define early 2000s animation. Directed by franchise veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn, the film brings back filmmakers who helped shape the series’ signature humor and heart. Vernon previously directed Shrek 2 and voiced Gingy, while Dohrn contributed to several Shrek films as a writer, artist, and voice actor, including his role as Rumpelstiltskin.
The movie is produced by Gina Shay, known for her work on Shrek Forever After and the Trolls franchise, along with Chris Meledandri, the Illumination CEO behind blockbuster hits such as Despicable Me and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Co-directing is Brad Ableson, whose credits include Minions: The Rise of Gru and The Simpsons.
Since debuting in 2001, the Shrek series has earned nearly $3 billion worldwide, launched a Broadway musical, theme park attractions, and global tours. With new cast members joining classic favorites, Shrek 5 aims to bring the franchise back with a renewed sense of fun and family.
