Guillermo del Toro confirms Frankenstein physical release with deleted scenes from Netflix horror hit
Guillermo del Toro reveals his Netflix adaptation of Frankenstein will receive a physical release

Guillermo del Toro has confirmed that his Netflix adaptation of Frankenstein will eventually be released on physical media. The filmmaker revealed the news on his official Twitter account after a fan asked about a deleted scene involving Mia Goth’s character, Elizabeth Harlander, during her time in a convent prior to joining the Frankenstein family.
Although specific details about the release have not yet been announced, del Toro’s response signals that fans can expect deleted scenes and other special features when the physical edition becomes available. The film, which required extensive design and production work to bring del Toro’s interpretation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel to life, is anticipated to include additional behind-the-scenes material.
Frankenstein premiered in select theaters before debuting on Netflix on November 7. Starring Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Christoph Waltz and Mia Goth, the movie quickly became a streaming success, earning more than 60 million views in its first 10 days. Fangoria’s Michael Gingold praised the film for its technical achievement and craftsmanship.
Because Netflix does not always release its originals on disc, confirmation of a physical version is considered significant, especially for collectors and horror fans. No timeline has been provided for the DVD, Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD release, but updates are expected as the project moves forward.
Del Toro’s announcement reinforces his long-standing commitment to physical media and genre filmmaking, offering fans another opportunity to explore his vision beyond the streaming platform.
