Silent Hill 2 remake arrives on Xbox with limited-time discount
The Silent Hill 2 remake arrives on Xbox with a limited-time 50% launch discount

Xbox players can now access the Silent Hill 2 remake following more than a year of waiting, with the title arriving on Xbox Series X|S alongside a limited-time introductory discount.
The announcement was made by the game’s official X account, which said the 50% launch offer was introduced “to celebrate our community’s passion and patience.”
The release marks the first time Xbox owners have been able to play Silent Hill 2 in any form since the Silent Hill HD Collection launched on Xbox 360 in 2012.
That collection was widely regarded by fans as inferior to the original version, making the remake’s arrival particularly significant for those who have followed the series on Microsoft’s consoles.
According to IGN, the remake ends a prolonged period of uncertainty for Xbox users who had been anticipating news after the game debuted elsewhere last year.
Before launch, some players had expressed concerns about whether the reimagining would live up to the legacy of the original title, which is frequently cited by long-time fans and critics as one of the most influential horror games ever made.
The new version was released to a strong reception, with many players describing it as a faithful yet modernised take on the classic. Its atmosphere, audio design and reinterpretation of familiar elements, such as the iconic nurse enemies, have been highlighted as key strengths contributing to its reputation as one of the most unsettling experiences available on current platforms.
The discounted release aims to make the game more accessible for those who were unable to play it previously. PlayStation Plus users currently have access to the title as part of their subscription, but the half-price launch discount offers Xbox players a comparable opportunity to try the remake.
The arrival of Silent Hill 2 on Xbox gives a new audience the chance to explore James Sunderland’s journey through the mist-covered town, with players encouraged to prepare for its intense and atmospheric narrative.
