Hugh Jackman hints he could return as Wolverine again
Hugh Jackman says he’ll “never say never” on Wolverine, teasing possible Marvel return after ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’

Hugh Jackman has left fans buzzing again after appearing on The Graham Norton Show, teasing that he might not be done with Wolverine. The actor, who famously retired the role after 2017’s Logan, told the audience, “Maybe. I am never saying ‘never’ ever again… But I did mean it when I said ‘never’ the first time.”
Jackman had already surprised audiences by returning as Wolverine in 2024’s Deadpool and Wolverine, a film that saw him play a new variant of the character thanks to Marvel’s multiverse. He explained that the decision wasn’t straightforward, saying he only committed after calling co-star Ryan Reynolds: “I rang Ryan. I said, ‘Let’s do it.’ I hadn’t rung my agent, no one. I had to ring my agent and said, ‘Oh, by the way, I have just committed to a movie.’”
Despite his enthusiasm, not everyone was immediately on board. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige admitted he originally warned Jackman against reprising the role, telling him, “‘You had the greatest ending in history with Logan. That’s not something we should undo.’” Nevertheless, the combination of fan anticipation and Jackman’s passion led to one of the most talked-about Marvel releases in recent years.
Jackman’s remarks on Norton have reignited speculation about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly with upcoming films like Avengers: Doomsday and its sequel Avengers: Secret Wars. While he will not be reprising the original Wolverine from Logan, the actor could potentially return as a multiverse variant, keeping fans on their toes.
Social media immediately lit up with reactions, with fans praising Jackman for keeping the mutant door open: “Wolverine is never really gone!” trended on X within hours. Others posted throwback clips of classic Jackman Wolverine moments, while fan art imagining his multiverse variants flooded TikTok and Instagram. The excitement proves that even after more than a decade, Jackman’s connection to Wolverine remains deeply resonant and culturally viral.
As Marvel continues to explore multiverse storytelling, Jackman’s Wolverine could make further appearances, ensuring that fans remain glued to speculation, memes, and anticipation for every future MCU announcement.
