Kim Kardashian has admitted that her unconventional study partner, ChatGPT, may have sabotaged her law school progress. In a new Vanity Fair lie detector interview, the 45-year-old reality star and entrepreneur confessed that she regularly used the AI chatbot for legal advice while preparing for her law exams, only to discover that it was more trouble than help.
Speaking alongside her All’s Fair co-star Teyana Taylor, Kardashian laughed as she revealed that ChatGPT’s wrong answers had caused her to fail multiple tests. “When I need to know the answer to a question, I’ll take a picture and put it in there. It has made me fail tests all the time,” she admitted. “And then I’ll get mad and yell at it.”
Taylor teased that Kardashian had a “toxic friendship” with the chatbot, to which the Skims founder agreed, calling the AI her “frenemy.” Kardashian went on to joke that the bot often tries to “teach her life lessons” after giving incorrect answers, saying it once told her she needed to “trust her own instincts.” She added that she regularly screenshots her exchanges with the chatbot to send to friends, laughing at how bizarre their digital arguments have become.
The exchange has gone viral online, with users joking that Kardashian’s study habits reflect a “realistic” glimpse into the future of AI-assisted education. Some fans defended her honesty, saying at least she was transparent about using ChatGPT, while others mocked the idea of relying on an AI tutor for something as serious as law school.
Kardashian’s legal studies have long been a subject of fascination. After beginning her law journey in 2019 through California’s apprenticeship route, she passed the “baby bar” exam in 2021 but has continued working toward full bar qualification. Reports last week suggested that she may have delayed her next bar exam attempt to 2026 as she balances work, family and filming for All’s Fair, her new Hulu legal drama premiering this week.
Whether or not ChatGPT remains part of her study routine, Kardashian’s latest confession has sparked new debates about AI’s growing role in education and how far celebrity culture can blur the lines between humour and habit.
