ANP-backed lawyers win K-P Bar elections

The elections for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council (2026-2030) have concluded, with unofficial results indicating a strong showing by Malgaray Wakeelan (lawyers affiliated with the Awami National Party).
The group secured 13 out of 28 seats, emerging as the leading bloc across the province.
According to preliminary results from Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, and Karak, Malgaray Wakeelan candidates dominated the polls. In Peshawar, which had seven seats, the group won four, while Insaf Lawyers Forum, affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, secured two seats, and one went to an independent candidate.
Khizar Hayat Khazana Advocate received the highest number of votes with 926, followed by Fazal Wahid Advocate with 893. From the Insaf Lawyers Forum, Sofia Noreen got 880 votes and Ali Zaman Advocate 875, both winning seats. Independent candidate Muhammad Saeed won with 828 votes, while Khushnooda Majid Marwat and Babar Khan Yousafzai of Malgaray Wakeelan also succeeded.
Elsewhere, Mubashir Shah (Swabi), Zarbadh Shah (Mardan), and Ahmad Farooq Khattak (Karak) won for Malgaray Wakeelan. The People's Lawyers Forum, JUI Lawyers Forum and Muslim Lawyers Forum managed limited wins.
