Days of Our Lives star Suzanne Rogers has revealed she was diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer earlier this year.

The longtime actress, best known for playing Maggie Horton, opened up about her diagnosis and recovery before returning to the hit Peacock soap opera.

Rogers told TV Insider that she began to sense something was wrong and decided to get tested. “My doctor said, ‘You have cancer and you have to start treatment.’ I was completely shocked,” she said. “I think I was in shock for several days. I’ve always taken good care of myself, but I’m thankful we caught it early enough to treat.”

After wrapping filming for the summer, Rogers immediately began treatment. “It was radiation every day and chemo every day for six weeks,” she shared. “It was tough knowing you had to do it five days a week. I really enjoyed my weekends because I didn’t have to see a doctor.”

Rogers completed her treatment on July 31 and says she’s now feeling “really good.” She’s set to return to Days of Our Lives soon and is eager to get back to work. “I’m always anxious to do my very best,” she said. “It’s not because of my illness — it’s just who I am.”

Despite the challenges, Rogers didn’t lose her signature red hair during treatment and is grateful for her recovery. “I know what I’ve gone through, and I’ve come out on the other side,” she said. “That’s all I care about.”
