Robbers hold lawmaker, family, hostage from 2am till 5am, depart with gold, cash, SUV

Discrediting the provincial government's insistence of curbing the rampant crimes of kidnappings and robberies in rural Sindh, robbers broke in the residence of an MNA in Noushehro Feroze district and held his family hostage for three hours before easily escaping with cash and valuable items.

The bandits' latest victim Zulfiqar Ali Behan, who was elected from NA-212, happens to belong to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)

The district's SSP Mir Rohail Khoso told the media that four suspected robbers barged in the Behan house, located around four kilometers away from Moro taluka, at around 2am on Monday. They remained in that house till 5am, collecting all the cash, jewelry and valuable items they possibly can.

The suspects later escaped in a double cab of the MNA but they had to leave the vehicle and escape by some other unknown way because of the tracking device. "The police have collected forensic evidence while geo-tagging has also been done," the SSP said.

He claimed that the police are taking every possible step to catch the robbers and to recover the loot. Behan was in Karachi at the time of the incident. He later told the local media that he does not keep security guards at his house.

"I have no enemies, due to which I never felt a compulsion to keep armed guards," the MNA said. He emphasized that the way his family has been traumatized by the robbers the act is tantamount to terrorism. The MNA, however, expressed hope that the police would bring the culprits to the book.

"I thank god that no harm to human lives occurred in the incident." According to him, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and other cabinet ministers contacted him, assuring of their complete support.
