Bijou Phillips has made a decisive move to distance herself and her daughter from her estranged husband, Danny Masterson.

The actress and model filed court documents to legally remove Masterson’s last name from their 11-year-old daughter’s identity, TMZ reported on Friday.

According to the filing, Phillips requested that her daughter’s name be changed from Fianna Francis Masterson to Fianna Francis Phillips, formally severing her child’s ties to the disgraced actor.

The decision comes more than a year after Phillips filed for divorce in September 2023, shortly after Masterson was convicted of raping two women in separate incidents dating back to 2003.

The former That ’70s Show star is currently serving a 30-year-to-life prison sentence at North Kern State Prison in California.

Phillips, 45, initially stood by Masterson during his trial, often appearing alongside him at court hearings and even writing a letter to the judge before sentencing, describing him as an “amazing father” and calling his bond with Fianna “inseparable.”

However, sources later told Daily Mail that friends and family urged Phillips to separate from Masterson, both to protect her daughter and to safeguard her financial future amid potential civil lawsuits.

“Bijou also is doing it to protect her assets and her future,” one insider said. “She doesn’t want to lose money and housing over a future civil lawsuit against Danny.”

In June 2024, Phillips confirmed she had moved on when she was seen publicly with her new partner, entrepreneur Jamie Mazur, signaling a fresh start after years of turmoil.

While representatives for both Phillips and Masterson have yet to comment, the name change marks another chapter in the actress’s effort to rebuild her and her daughter’s lives apart from Masterson’s shadow.
