Police registered case after video of assault went viral on social media

A disturbing incident of corporal punishment surfaced in the Kallar Syedan area of Islamabad, where a teacher at a private school brutally beat a student for not memorising his Quran lesson. After a video of the assault went viral on social media, police launched an investigation, registered a case, and arrested the teacher.
According to the police, the case was filed on the complaint of Constable Kamran Yaqoob, who was on security duty in the area when he received a video clip showing a student being violently beaten at a local school.

The investigation revealed that the incident took place at a private school’s Kallar Syedan campus, where student Arman Asif was subjected to severe beating by his teacher, Qari Akash, for not recalling his lesson.
Police stated that corporal punishment is a punishable offense under Punjab government laws. The teacher, Muhammad Akash, has been charged accordingly and taken into custody.
Saddar SP Nabeel Khokhar said that the accused will be prosecuted based on solid evidence and brought to justice. “Violence against children will not be tolerated under any circumstances — it is a criminal act with no justification whatsoever,” he added.
