President Donald Trump is reportedly considering commuting the prison sentence of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, as the rapper formally appeals both his conviction and sentence in federal court.

Combs, sentenced earlier this month to more than four years in prison and fined $500,000, was found guilty of two counts of violating the Mann Act for transporting individuals across state lines for illicit purposes. He was acquitted of racketeering and sex-trafficking charges.

A two-page formal notice of appeal obtained by Sky News confirms that Combs will be challenging both his conviction and his sentence.

The document, filed in Manhattan federal court on Monday, lists his defense counsel as Alexandra A. E. Shapiro and shows that a $605 docketing fee was paid to initiate the appeal.

In the filing, Shapiro argues that prosecutors relied on unreliable witnesses and misapplied federal law, while also contending that the trial judge allowed prejudicial evidence that unfairly influenced the jury’s verdict.

Meanwhile, multiple White House officials say President Trump is actively reviewing Combs’ case for a potential commutation.

While some aides support the move as part of Trump’s “second-chance justice” message, others warn it could draw criticism for favoring a celebrity defendant.

Trump has said he has not yet received a formal clemency request but would “look at the facts” if one is presented.

If granted, a commutation would reduce Diddy’s sentence without erasing his conviction. However, if his appeal succeeds, the conviction itself could be overturned, a development that could reshape one of the most closely watched celebrity cases of the year.
