Kim Kardashian made a striking appearance at the 2025 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles, donning a dramatic masked ensemble from Glenn Martens’s couture debut for Maison Margiela.

The reality star and entrepreneur arrived wearing a nude-toned Margiela gown that featured sheer cups, a tightly cinched waist, and a sculpted, upturned bodice. The look extended into flowing sleeves and a draped skirt with a train. Completing the avant-garde outfit was a full-face mask that wrapped around her head, held in place by a silver-and-emerald choker necklace with cascading pendants.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet, Kardashian said the look reminded her of her own shapewear brand, Skims. “That’s why I was drawn to it when the Margiela couture show came out. I saw this look and I was like, ‘That is so Skims to me,’” she said. Despite being completely covered, Kardashian revealed that she had full hair and makeup done underneath the mask, calling herself a “devoted glamazon.” She credited her longtime makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, whom she flew in from New York for the event, though she admitted the decision was “a last-minute thing.”

The gown originated from Look 38 in Margiela’s Fall 2025 couture collection, which was praised for its Gothic, sculptural silhouettes and masked models that evoked the house’s signature mysterious style. Kardashian’s version stayed true to the runway look, apart from her cream-colored talon nails.

This isn’t Kardashian’s first foray into full-body couture. She famously wore an all-black, masked Balenciaga look to the 2021 Met Gala, a moment that redefined her red carpet image. Since then, she has embraced the bold, conceptual vision of Martens and Galliano, often opting for statement-making designs that fuse art and fashion.
