'The maid did it'

It seemed like a scene from a crime thriller - a terrified housemaid found "bound and shaken" after a robbery, claiming she too was a victim. But as Joharabad police dug deeper, the truth unraveled: the maid herself had staged the crime.

According to SHO Rashid-ur-Rehman, the incident took place on October 15 at a bungalow in Federal B Area Block 9, where a robber held a woman hostage at knifepoint and made off with gold jewellery, cash, and mobile phones. The domestic help, Nida, who was present at the time, had pretended to be taken hostage as well.

Police grew suspicious after reviewing CCTV footage and questioning Nida, who eventually confessed to orchestrating the robbery with her accomplice, Mohammad Aaal Rehan. She had quietly unlocked the door, allowing Rehan to enter the house, where he threatened the homeowner's mother and looted valuables before fleeing.

A subsequent police raid led to the duo's arrest and the recovery of stolen gold, cash, and two mobile phones.
