Kristen Bell says ‘Frozen 3’ cast to begin production soon, script already in hand
Kristen Bell confirms Frozen 3 production will start soon, revealing she’s already read the script

Actress Kristen Bell has confirmed that production on Frozen 3, the highly anticipated third installment in Disney’s blockbuster animated franchise, will begin “soon.” Bell, who voices Princess Anna, shared the update during an interview at the Season 2 premiere of Nobody Wants This at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
Speaking to Variety, Bell revealed that while she hasn’t yet heard any of the new songs for the upcoming sequel, she has already seen the script. “That’s all I can say. I’m under lock and key,” she said, describing Disney’s tightly controlled creative process. She explained that early drafts often start as concept outlines: “Here’s where we think it should go. The great thing about Disney is it goes through a thousand filters. Everyone adds something different, and that’s why the movies hit every mark.”
Frozen 3 is slated for release in 2027. In August 2024, Disney unveiled early visual development art showing Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) on a white horse and Anna on a brown stag. The film will once again be directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, who co-directed the first two films.
The original Frozen premiered in 2013 and became an international phenomenon, winning two Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature. Its sequel, Frozen II, followed in 2019 and continued the story of sisters Anna and Elsa in the kingdom of Arendelle, alongside characters voiced by Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) and Josh Gad (Olaf).
During the same event, Bell also discussed her Netflix series Nobody Wants This, returning for its second season on October 23. While her husband Dax Shepard is not joining the show, Bell said he’s content focusing on his podcast Armchair Expert.
