Walker Scobell cancels school prom over death threats to teenage girls
Percy Jackson star skips prom after fans send death threats to girls linked to him, urging end to harassment now

Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Walker Scobell has announced he will not attend his school prom after teenage girls associated with him received death threats from fans.
The 17-year-old actor, who plays the titular demigod in the Disney+ series, shared a statement on Instagram on April 12 addressing the behaviour within the fandom. Scobell revealed that fans had been targeting teenage girls simply because they live near him or are loosely connected to him.
“Just to let everyone know, I am not going to prom. Please stop sending death threats to ALL the teenage girls that could be remotely associated with me based on proximity to where I live,” he wrote. “It is not fair to them or their families. Maybe stop sending death threats to anyone, in general. Not cool.”

The actor said his decision to skip prom was intended to prevent further harassment and escalation. His statement has sparked wider discussion about toxic fan behaviour, particularly within young adult franchises.
Scobell rose to prominence with Percy Jackson and the Olympians, based on the bestselling novels by Rick Riordan. The series has been renewed for additional seasons, with new episodes expected in 2026.
Many fans have since voiced support for Scobell, condemning the threats and calling for more responsible behaviour online.
