Jennifer Lopez was recently spotted filming scenes for The Last Mrs Parrish in New York City, adding fresh momentum to what has become one of Netflix’s most anticipated upcoming thrillers. The film is an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Liv Constantine, and production has shifted into active shooting after months of development.

The novel, first published in 2017 and once chosen as a Reese Witherspoon book club pick, centres on Amber Patterson, a woman who inveigles her way into the life of a wealthy couple with a hidden agenda. As she insinuates herself into their home, she soon finds that the life she coveted may harbour darker secrets than she ever anticipated. The book is widely praised for its twists, psychological tension, and how it explores envy, deceit, and power imbalance.

In April 2025, Netflix confirmed Lopez would both star in and produce the film, under the direction of Robert Zemeckis. The screenplay is being adapted by a team including Andrea Berloff and John Gatins. Production sources suggest that filming was originally slated to begin in May 2025, but was later delayed to September 9, 2025. Filming is expected to continue through November, with locations including New Jersey and other sites doubling for affluent communities.

On set in New York, Lopez was seen in character attire near city streets, blending into urban backdrops that may stand in for scenes in wealthy enclaves or dramatic confrontations. Her presence on location confirms that the adaptation is well into principal photography, a crucial phase that bodes well for a late 2026 or early 2027 Netflix release, though no official date has yet been announced.

Casting reports also show Lopez starring as one of the Parrish characters, with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Isabel May, and Pierson Fodé joining the ensemble. As the story’s centre, Lopez’s role will likely carry the emotional weight of deceit and duplicity central to the novel.

Given the source material’s strong following and the flash of Lopez’s star power behind it, The Last Mrs Parrish has the potential to become one of Netflix’s larger literary-driven hits of its kind. If the adaptation retains the original’s unpredictable momentum, suspense and character reveals, it might even surpass expectations.

As filming continues, fans and industry watchers alike are eager to see how the story is visualised, how the characters are cast, and when Netflix will lock in a premiere date.
